THE DIGEST
Highlands Ranch: Changes Ahead for DCSD Schools – But Don’t Panic!
Some big news over the last week. Douglas County School District (DCSD) is looking to consolidate a few schools in Highlands Ranch starting in the 2026-2027 school year—but don’t worry, no teachers are losing their jobs, and bus fees will be covered for affected students!
Here’s the plan:
Saddle Ranch Elementary students would join Eldorado Elementary
Heritage Elementary students would move to Summit View Elementary
Acres Green Elementary students would head to Fox Creek Elementary
Superintendent Erin Kane assures families that this decision wasn’t made overnight. After two years of research, the district selected schools based on space, accessibility, and keeping resources strong for students. Of course, some parents have concerns, but there’s still time to weigh in!
The school board will review the plan on April 8 and make a final decision on April 22. So, if you have thoughts, now’s the time to speak up!

Castle Rock: Debate Over Proposed Electric Substation ⚡🔥
A new electric substation is in the works for Castle Rock, but not everyone is on board! While CORE Electric Cooperative says the Ridge Substation is essential for the town’s growth and will be safe, efficient, and blend into the landscape, some residents aren’t convinced.
Neighbors worry about fire risks, potential property value dips, and EMF exposure, not to mention losing their scenic views. With past fires in the area already raising concerns, locals have launched a "No CORE at our Door" campaign to push back.
Despite the concerns, Douglas County zoning allows for the substation, and a public hearing is set for April 7 for residents to voice their opinions. Will the substation power up, or will the opposition shut it down? Stay tuned! ⚖️🏡
